Training for Tharuwan Maoists underway

A trining session of the UCPN (Maiust) cadres of the Tharuwan state has begun on saturday at Chisapani of banke district on Saturday.

Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal , Standing Committee member Dev Gurung and Maoist leader Lila Mani Pokhrel are facilitating the training.

The training is being conducted under the chairmanship of central Secretatiat menber of Tharu Rastriya Mukti Morcha Duraga Bahadur Taharu.

Around 700 maoist cadres across Kapinvastu Kanchanpur are taking part in the training.

Former king in Mahendranagar

Former King Gyanendra Shah reached Mahendrangagar during his four day visit to the Far wWestern Region on Friday. Shah offered prayers at Siddanaath Temple during his stay in the district

Hundreds of supporters of the former king flocked to welcome Shah upon his arrival and shouted slogans in support of the monarchy.Large number of cadres of Shiva sena were deployed to escort Shah during his half an hour long walk to the Temple.

Shah is also scheduled to meet people close to him and will leave for Dhangadi today itself.

SAARC conference on sanitation to be held in Nepal

Rss LALITPUR ; The fifth south Asian sanitation caonterence is to be held for the first time in Nepal.

The fifth South Asian conference on sanitaion ( SACOSAN) is to be held for the first time Nepal with  an objectve of formulating policies and programmes by the governments of concerned countries be discussing and consulting with stakeholders on the sanitation of South Asia.

The NGO Fresh water Action Nepal will organise the conference which will be participated in representatives of all the countries including Nepal India Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and stakeholders of all countries.

The ffirst conference was held in Bangladesh in 2003 and the fourth conference in Sri Lanka.

The conference will be held in November 2013 in Kathmandu.

As per government statistice Nepal has 50 percent population within reach to sanitation and the targer is to recch ecnt percent by 2017.

China executes three over deadly hotel arson

Beijing  china on Thuresday esecuted three arsonists held responsible for a deadly hotel fire last year  that killed 11 people and in people and injured more than 30 others state media reported.

The victims at the budget hotel in the northeastern Jilin province part of a chain called Home Inns died of smoke inhalation after the fire started in a stairwell and sendt thick plumes of moke to the upper floors.

On Thursday the intermediate Peoples court Tonghua city where the incident took place announced three people blamed for starting the fire had been sentenced to death and executed Xinhua news agency said.

The report did not elaborate on why the three started the fire last year on May 1. The court unavailable for comment when contacted by AFP and an official at Jilins superior court said he was not aware of the case.

According to Amnesty International china executes more people than the rest of the world put together although it has reduced the number of offences facing the death penalty abolishing its use for 13 mainly white collar crimes.

5.2 Quake strikes Nepal-India border

 A 5.2 magnitude earthquake Jolted Nepal,s eastern Indian border on Wednesday morning.

Howeber , on human casualties have been reported so far.

The epicenter was recorded betwwn Saptari and sunsati district at 5.27 am Technical officer at National Seismological centre Umesh Gautam informed.

According to Gautam the area is less vulnerable to earthquake

The earthquake was felt in Indian state Bihar and some parts of western Bangal as well.

No CA term extension:sc

With the supreme Coury (SC) upholding iis administrations refusal to review the verdict no constituent Assmbly term extension on wednesday it has become almost certain that the CA term would not be extended anymore.

A single bench of SC  Justice Kamal Narayan Das issued the order to this effect today.

Earlier the SC administration had refused to accept review petitions filed separately by Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai and Constituent Assembly Chairman Subash Chandra Nembang against the Novemer 25 verdict of the apex court to put a cap on the CA term.

In the petitions they had sought the review arguing that the courts decision was not based on leded on legal principles and without legal presedents.

On November 25 the SC had issued a verdict that had called on ghe government to complete the tast k drafting the constitution be extending the ca term one last time.

Obama concedes strains between US Pakistan

President Barack Obama  is conceding that ties betwrrn the U.S. and Pakistan are strained , but says it is important to get their relations hip reght.

Obama is speaking alongside Pakistani Prime Minister Yousaaf Raza  Fillani before the two men hold a private meeting .

Their meeting comes amid heightened tensions betweer the U.S. and Pakistan following a series of incidents that have marred trust. The relationship breaking point in November when U.S. forces returned fire they believed came from a pakistani border post killing 24 pakistani troops.

Pakistan has been debating new terms of engagement with  the US Obama says he welcomes the pakistani review and says the key is finding a balanced approach that respects Pakistani sovereignty and the right of the US to protect its security interests.

Maoist rebels kill 13 paramilitary police in central India

A pilece official says suspected Maoist rebels have ambushed a patrol team in westem India killing at least 13 paramilitary policemen.

The official says the policemen were travelling through a densely forested area in Maharashtra state on Tuesday when the rebels set off a land mine blowing up the vehicle.

The official said another 15 policemen were wounded in the powerful blast . The official was speaking on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to speak to the media .( himalyan times)

Followers of buddha boy Ram Bhadur Bomjan have veen assuded of holding tow momen one a slovek captive.

It is learnd that members of the Bodhi Srawan dharama sangh an  association formed to oversee Bomjan;s security , held the  woment for practicing witchcraft and disturbing bomjans meditaion .

Bomjan has been meditating in the Halkhoriya forest of Ratanpur VDC in Bara district for the past seven years.
Though the identities of the woment have not been established officially people claiming to know them said the woman from Slovakia is named Marichi while the second woman is mata aani said to be from sindhupalchowk.

A person involved with the sangh said the two women have been detained for practicing witchcraft and trying to disrupt the meditaiton, Marichi had arrived in Nepal 11 months ago seeking audience with Bomjan . she stayed in a local hotel for some time before moving to a monastery in simara. The other woman meanwhile had been living in the Halkhoriya region for a while. Police said they received a report about the missing women a couple of days ago and that investigations ate underway.

Four killed in Bajhang jeep accident

Four perons were killed and 14 others injured in a jeep accident at Ridapata VDC here in the district on Monday.

Three of htem died on the spot when a jeep (SE 1 CHA 351) heading for  Jhota from Chainpur met with the caccident . The third one a critically injured child was rushed to the sistrict hospital where he breathed his lasta. Of the injured six presons are said to be in critical condition.

The injured were recued from the incident site and have been taken to the district hospital.

Staff Sgt. Rovert Bales to be charged with killing 17

Pentagon officials said Thursday that thy expect staff sgt. Robert Bales 38 to be charged on Friday on 17 counts of murder among other lesser charges.

The charges are expected tomorrow a U.S S official told Yahoo News Thursday night on condition of anonymity.

The charges signed against Bales include 17 counts of murder six counts of attempted murder and six counts of aggravated assault as well as dereliction of duty and other violations of military low , the Associated Press reported.

The official said he could not explain why Bales was expected to be charged on 17 conuts of murder , wher the number oa Afghan civilians reported to have been killed in a March 11 shooting rampage in Panjwai district southern Afghanistan was 16,  including 9 childran.
Bales seattle civilian defense attorney John Henry Browne said this week that he would travel to Afghanistan to do his own investigation into what transpires saying the charges would be hard to prove.

Browne had earlier suggented that the Army should not have sent Bales to  Afghanistan after he suffered a concussive braain injury on his third tour in Iraq after his vehicle hit an IED. (kantipur)

2 held with Rs 1.06 m in fake currency

A team of a Armed Police Force ( APF) has detained two persons for allegedly possessing large amount of conuterfeit Nepali currencies from Dhulabari of Jhapa.
The APF team seized RS 2.06 million in fake currency from the duo. All the counterfeit notes were of Rs 1000 denomination
Dhan Bahadur Rai of Bhansipakha 9 Bhojpur and Dhan Bahadur Limbu of Shanti Nagar 3 Jhapa were arrested eith the fake notes.
The Police pretended to be the client of fake currency dealers to make their operation successful.
The arrest could lead to the arrest of the entire recket. Police have been searching for orherss involved the racket. The APF  was headed by DSP Manoj Thapa.

CC extends deadline to resolve disputed issues

A meeting of the Constitutional Committee (CC) on friday has decided to extend deadiline for settling the contentious isssues related to constitution drafting process until march 29.

The meeting of the Dispute Resolution Committee earlier today had decided to make efforts to extend the deadline for forging consensus on the remaining tasks of the peace and constitution drafting processes.

 Talking to media  persons after the meeting, committee chairman Nelambar Acharya said the sub committee was granted more time for completing its task  since it has been working seriously.

Similarly UCPN-Maoist leader Dev Prasad Gurang bledged to do more homework regarding the peace and constitution drafting processes.

Maoist hardliners discuss possibility of alliance with fringe left parties

Leaders of the hardliner Mohan Baidya faction of the UCPN( MAOIST ) monday held a joint meeting with fringe communist parties as part of their preparations to launch street protests to press their demands including a peoples constitution and resignation of the Bhattarai government.
Leaders of 11 fringe left parties including the CPN ( maoist) headed by matrika Yadab Revolutionary communist party and Janamukti party were pressent in the meeting held in Lalitpur. They agreed in principle to spearhead a joint protest movement but the timing and the programms are yet to be decided.
The maoist hardliners reached out to the fringe left parties after turning down the party establishment's decision to hold the central committee meeting to resolve the internal dispute.
According to sources Baidya told party chairman pushapa Kamal Dahal during a meeting on wednesday that his group would not participate in CC meeting until Baburam Bhattarai agreed to step down.( nepalnews)

Locals stage demonstration demanding start of west seti construction

Locals of far westem region staged demonstration demanding immediate implementation of the west seti hydropower construction agreement.
They staged a rally at Attariya of kailali , chanting slogans against the natural resourcess committee for trying to obstruct the implementation of the project.
Bishnu chand general. secretary of west seti concern committee said they would launch protest against any group or political party that comes in the way of the implementation of the project.
Earlier, the House committee had ordered the ministry of energy not go ahead with the implementation of the construction agreement with the chinese company Three Gorges. The House committee also formed a sub committee to study the procedures adopted by the ministry while awarding the contracts.
The deadline of the sub committee was extended be 10 more days after the previous deadline ended on monday.
The Energy ministry has said all the necessary procedures were completed while signing the agreement on the construction of the 750 MW power plant (by nepalnews)

CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oil has said that UCPN ( maoist) is just a group of robbers.
He claimed that Maoist had not given up their looting behaviour despite winning the election and leading the government.
Addressing a program at Sankhuwasabha district on wednesday , Oli maintained the maoist were still looting and threatening the citizens. He said that the maoist had even looted the huge sum of money that was provided to their cadres.

NC MUL mellow out on west seti deal

The opposition parties Nepali congress and CPN - UML have sofrened their stance and spoken in favour of allowing the china Three Georges International Corporation to go ahead with the construction of the 750 MW West Seti Hydroelectricity project. The parties said the project may begin immediately after the Ministry of Energy comes up with a  satisfactory response on the technical legal and financial aspects of the palan.
We have no qualms about the Wwst seti project going ahead but we want to know more of more of some issues of the deal . The construction can take pace afrer the ministry comes up with a satisfactory response , NC leader Laxman Ghimire a member of  a committee formed to probe the agreement said.
On Tuesday the ministry submitted the original copy of the Memorandum of Understanding singned berween the company and the ministry to the probe committee. However the ministray is yet to answer 16 queries sent by the cpmmittee. The deadline for the ministry to submit its response ends on Wadnesday. We will take a decision as soon as the ministry responds Ghimire said.
The UML which has been facing criticism for strongly opposing the construction of the arun 3 hydroelectricity project in 1994 that was expected to generete 402 MW of electricity is also in favour of timely implementation of the agreement berween the govrnment and Three Georges.
UML leaders said the party has realised that it must not let the case of arun III happen again and not be blamed further for any delay in the construction of development projects in the country .
some leaders including Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal and  former Finance Minister Surendra Pandey are stressing on construction of the project to addrss the ever increasing energy crisis The UML is in favour of national interests and the project should be constructed Panday said .
According to UML soureces , though the party's Chief of the Department of Natural Resources Management Pradeep Neapal had initially demanded the contract for the project be awarded to a company through a bidding process he later agreed to the deal with Three Gorges.
Other UML leaders who were against the deal also sofrened their stance afrer they were told that there was an understanding among senior leaders to award the contract to the Chinese company.

Two die in road accident

Two persons died when a road mishap occurred at about 9;45 at the busy milan chok of butwal on monday.
They died when a tripper heading south south from Butwal Lu a kha 3960 hit a motorcycle Lu 5 pa 2340 deading for Bhairahawa.
Those who died were dilip Neupane of  Butwal 8 chandbari and Nawaraj Shrrestha a resident of Devinagar Butwal 13 the Area Police Office Butwal said.
Neupane was an officer of the district forest office and shresha the accountant of the same office.
Both were going to office in bhairahawa and their bodies are tattered. The police has impounded the tripper and taken the driver under control.RSS

Hardliner cadres against party policy

The establishment faction of the UCPN (Maoist ) has claimed that the activities of the hard line faction led by vice chairman Mohan Baidya are against party policy.
The meeting of the party members close to maoist chairman Pushpa kamal Dahal at his residence in lazimpat on Thursday decided to alert the hard line faction not to conduct any activities against the party.
The meeting was convened a day after Baidya camp organised a meeting of the former combatants loyal to it in dang. The faction has also initiated a process to form a new paramilitary  forece comprising the retired and disqualified combatants loyal to it.
Today,s meeting also decided to strengthen the party despite the call for prime minster baburam bhattara's resignation.
Majority of party members stressed that prime minister bhattarai shoud not resign soon sources confirmed.

It is irresponsible and immature to demand the resignation of government lad by owns party poudel said
Clarifying that PM Bhattarai will resign only if the no confidence motion was endorsed against him poudel challenged to table the motion  instead of protesing through streets . He also said that the government was open to discuss the ministerial portfolio to be given to baidhya faction.
Speaking on the governments decision to provide rs 20 million to maoist mountaineers including chairman puspa kamal dahal;s son prakash dahal , poudel said there were some reservation on the decision but the decision would not be rolled back.
Also speaking on the occasion Nepal congress NC leader arjun narsingh kc recalled that NC had given the time until mid march to conclude the peace process and maintained that PM had no alternativ tao resign as the peace process was not completed within the given time.
Even our president sushil koirala had given the time till mid march to conclude the peace process. PM should resign as he has not been able to conclude it even afrer four days past the given time KC said.( by katipupur )

Israel strikes oil off Tel Aviv coast

Israel's modiin energy and adira energy corp . on tuesday confirmed  the discovery of an commercially viable quantity of oil just 15 miles of the coast of Tel Aviv.
Late last year midiin and adira published surveys of the 150 square mile gabriella field showing that the site likely contained significant quantities of both oil and natural gas.
Speaking to shreholders in Tel Aviv  adira officials said gabriella is expected to yield 232 million barrels of oil and 1.8 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Add that to the 25 trillion cubic feet  fo natural gas discovered last year at other mediterranean sites and israels  energy situation is starting to look much improved.
Modiin  majority shareholder tzahi sultan told israels globes business newspaper tha drilling at the gabriella site should begin later this year and a well will be in place producing oli in about five years. ( by israel today magazine)

Cameron UK wonld not support Israeli strike on iran

I don't think as we stand today military action by israel wonld be justified ' British PM interview with NVC;  adds that he understands israeli sentiment on iran and he will not take options off the table.
The UK would not support an israeli strike on lran ; british prime minister david cameron said in an iterview with ABC published thusday .
I dont think as we stand today that millitary action by israel would be justified . comeron daid , I don't  think the israelis should take that action now, weve told them they shouldn;t and weve said that we support it if they did.
In a bid to dispel the idea that there might be a rifr in Israel UK  relations Comeron added that We are a friend of israel. Israel  has right to exist as a democratic state. It's very important that israel knows it has strong allies like america and like the united kingom.
That said comeron stressed that sanctions remain the preferred tactin for ending the lranian regimes nuclear program. I dont support action now because frankly we;ve got more road to run in putting in place sanctions in putting in place tough measures against the iranian regime.

According top priority to the development of hydropower sector in the conntry prime minister Bauram Bhattarai on wednesday coined a new slogan , Democracy plus hydropower equals to new Nepal. Just as the politics fo the country cannot be developed without the establishment of democracy, econot flourish without the development of the hydropower sector , he said.
Addressing the inaugural session of hydropower summit 2012 Bhattaraiargued that hydropower in not an end product but an intermediary material that holds the key to the growth of other sectors including agriculture, tourism manufacturing and information and communication services. He also said the govenment is working towards the formation of an infrastructure bank in the country to help people invest in hydropowrr projects. Indicationg at the countrys persrnt banking systems limit in meeting the financing needs of hydropower developers he said the government has also proposed an amendment tin existing banking law for the creation of the infrastructure bank. Bomb blast in nepal;s capital Kathmandu kills three

At least three people have been killed in a bomb balast in a busy , central area of the nepalies capital kathmandu police say.
At least six people were also injured in the blasto officials say, which took place outside the offices of the nepal olil corporation 
A little known militant organistion the unified national libeation front has  said it carried out the attack.
There has been no comment from the government as yet.
A bomb blast killd tow people and injured five in an area near government offices and the district occuerred at  1;25pm (0740 GTM) Nepal police spokesman binod singh was quoted by news agrncy Agerece France PRESSE as saying.
A special team of police have been deployed in the area. They are gathering evidence and the area has been cordonedo off.
A Person claiming to be a spokesman for the unified national liberation Front said it was a group fightiong for the rights of indigenous communities and cited the governments inability to curb corruption and fuel price rises as reasons behind the attack BBC Nepali reports.by BBC

CC MEET DEFERRED FOR INDEFINITE PERIOD

Constitutional committee meeting has been deferred for indefinite period ude to the deadlock seen the peace process.
The CC meeting held to resolve comtentious issues seen in the staute drafting in singhadurbar this morning ended inconclusively without entering the main context.
The CC meeting has been hampered as the political parties still have differences over the ranks to be offered to the former maoist combatants in the nepal army.
The opposition parties have been saying that the constitution drafting process can not be moved ahiad until the peace process is taken to a logical couclusion.
The business Asvisory board of the contituent assembly had give the deadine till today to resolve all the contentious issues seen in constitution drafting However, the political parties failed to meet the deadline today.

Pm Inaugurates biggest ever football event


Kathmandu, March 8
Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai inaugurated the AFC Challenge Cup, the biggest ever football event held in Nepal, in the presence of world football governing body International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) President Joseph Sepp Blatter amidst a special function held at Dasarath Stadium on Thursday.
PM Bhattarai announced the opening of the Championship at the formal request of FIFA President Blatter.

Duo arrested for teenager's abduction

Police have rounded up duo Raju Shrestha (25) of Bhirpani, Ramechhap and Sunil Tamang (18) of Thikure, Solukhumbu from their Samakhushi-based CD shop in connection with the kidnapping of sixteen-year-old Madhu Sunuwar Thursday evening.

Police said an unidentifed three-member gang kindnapped Madhu Sunuwar of Marbhung, Gulmi district, currently living at Redanpool, from Shrestha’s CD shop at 7 pm on Thursday. Sunuwar had come to buy a CD at Shrestha’s shop.

A police team from Metropolitan Police Sector, Lainchaur had rescued her in a semi conscious state and taken her to Prasuti Hospital in Thapathali.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.

PM blames parties for delay in mechanism formation

KAHTMANDU , MAR 09 -
Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has blamed non-cooperation on the part of political leaders for the delay in finding alternative arrangement to run the local bodies.

He said that the government has not been able to arrive at conclusion on the same as the political leaders have not furnished responses and suggestions on the proposal forwarded by the government. The prime minister said so during the inauguration of Fifth District Council of Kathmandu District Development Committee in the Capital on Friday. 
“We have sent the proposals to the parties,” said PM Bhattarai, “It appears the government’s reluctance to act upon the issue, but the parties do not respond on the government proposal,” he added.
He remarked that the alternative to the all party mechanisms would be formed in next week.
PM Bhattarai opined that the authority should not delay in developing Kathmandu Valley as an organised city as it is the Capital city of the country.
On the occasion, Bhattarai also assured to check the unplanned construction and plotting in the fertile land in the valley through land-use policy.
